The second-generation F-Series arrived for 1953, replacing the F-1 model designation with the now-famous F-100 label for half-ton pickups. The redesigned cabin boasted improved ergonomics, expanded glass surface area, a refined dashboard, and the availability of a Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission.
In 1954, the legendary Flathead was replaced by the new overhead-valve (OHV) 239 ci Y-block V8 engine (130 hp). The iconic 1956 model year stands out with its exclusive wrap-around vertical windshield and revised cab pillars. The second generation remains a celebrated classic among automotive collectors.
