About this generation

The fourteenth-generation F-150 introduced PowerBoost hybrid technology, Pro Power Onboard, and the electric Lightning.

Debuting for 2021, the fourteenth-generation F-150 redesigned every exterior body panel while creating an interior work surface with a stowable shifter. The integrated Pro Power Onboard generator provided up to 7.2 kW of exportable electrical power directly from the truck bed to run heavy-duty jobsite equipment.

Drivetrains featured the 430-hp PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6, alongside standard EcoBoost and V8 engines. The lineup expanded with the fully electric F-150 Lightning featuring dual motors and vehicle-to-home backup power capabilities, while the extreme Raptor R added a 720-hp supercharged 5.2-liter V8. The lasting engineering impact of this generation remains a key benchmark in Ford's global model evolution history. Known for its dependable mechanical layout, the vehicle built a loyal customer base across diverse driving conditions. Offered with versatile feature packages, this iteration successfully balanced day-to-day usability with solid resale value.

2027 Ford F-150 gains a 3.0-liter base V6 engine and expanded V8 options

Ford has updated the F-150 for the 2027 model year, replacing the previous 2.7-liter engine with a new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 producing 325 horsepower. The automaker also expanded the availability of the 400-hp 5.0-liter V8 across the entire trim range and introduced a special Carhartt package.
