The second-generation Suzuki Alto (CA71V) subcompact hatchback was manufactured from 1984 to 1988.

Introduced in September 1984, the second-generation Suzuki Alto (CA71V series) updated the model line with aerodynamic styling, larger glass areas, and improved interior ergonomics. In 1985, Suzuki launched the landmark Alto Works performance trim, pioneering turbocharged 16-valve DOHC performance in the Japanese kei class with the maximum regulatory limit of 64 hp. Innovations included slide-open side doors and a rotating driver's seat for access ease.

Powering the car was a 543 cc F5A three-cylinder engine in naturally aspirated (31–34 hp) and turbocharged intercooled formats (48–64 hp). The generation introduced available full-time 4WD and a 5-speed manual transmission to the lineup. A minor cosmetic update in 1986 refreshed the front grille and headlight surrounds.
