The fourth generation Toyota Corona (T80/T90 series) launched in February 1970. Designed with a more substantial footprint, the exterior featured a recessed chrome grille mesh, strong shoulder lines, and twin round lighting. Offered in four-door sedan, two-door pillarless hardtop coupe, and five-door station wagon configurations, the expanded cabin was styled with woodgrain dashboard appliques, soft vinyl seats, integrated climate controls, and improved acoustic dampening.

Powertrains comprised 1.5-liter 2R, 1.6-liter 12R, 1.7-liter 6R, 1.9-liter 8R, and 2.0-liter 18R four-cylinder gasoline engines delivering up to 115 horsepower. The flagship 2000 GT hardtop featured the high-performance DOHC 18R-G engine pushing output to 130 horsepower. Transmissions included three-, four-, and five-speed manuals alongside three-speed Toyoglide automatics. Front disc brakes became standard across upper trims. A 1971 update refreshed front grille inserts and taillights.
