The eleventh and final generation Toyota Corona Premio (T210 series) launched in January 1996. The exterior adopted a formal sedan profile defined by horizontal body creases and a refined chrome grille. Constructed using Toyota's GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) safety bodyshell, the cabin offered superior impact protection, dual front airbags, ABS brakes, and automatic climate control.

A key technological breakthrough arrived in 1997 with the 2.0-liter 3S-FSE engine featuring Toyota's first mass-produced D-4 direct fuel injection system outputting 145 horsepower. Standard engines included the 1.6-liter 4A-FE, 1.8-liter 7A-FE Lean Burn, 2.0-liter 3S-FE (AWD), and a 2.2-liter 3C-TE turbodiesel. Transmissions were five-speed manuals or four-speed automatics. A 1998 facelift updated clear lighting lenses. Production of the historic Corona line concluded in December 2001, succeeded by the Toyota Premio.
