Debuting in May 1987, the sixth-generation Corolla (E90) completely phased out rear-wheel drive, adopting front-wheel-drive and full-time all-wheel-drive configurations across the entire range. The exterior featured smoother, aerodynamically refined body panels with tighter panel gaps, while the cabin received upgraded soundproofing materials and premium trim options.
