Debuting in July 1998, the V50 series represented the last generation of the compact-class architecture lineage. As global markets fully transitioned to wide-body Camry models, the V50 sedan and Vista Ardeo station wagon were sold exclusively in Japan. The exterior design featured a tall, aerodynamic profile, digital center-mounted instrument cluster, and a flat cabin floor maximizing interior space. Engineers paid meticulous attention to structural body rigidity, minimizing noise, vibration, and harshness levels while enhancing cabin material quality. V50 production ended in 2003, marking the retirement of the Vista nameplate.
