2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Debuts With Refreshed Styling and a 10.5-Inch Screen
Originally introduced for the 2022 model year as a smaller sibling to the popular RAV4, the Toyota Corolla Cross receives a mid-cycle refresh for 2026. Designed to compete against subcompact rivals such as the Honda HR-V, Subaru Crosstrek, and Hyundai Kona, the updated crossover features revised styling, enhanced cabin technology, and a reconfigured interior layout.
On the outside, the 2026 Corolla Cross introduces distinct front fascia designs that differentiate conventional gas models from hybrid versions with revised grilles and bumpers. Buyers can choose a new Cavalry Blue exterior paint on LE and XLE gas trims as well as SE and XSE hybrid trims, with hybrids also offering an optional two-tone look featuring a black roof. Upper XLE and XSE grades gain newly styled 18-inch wheels.
Inside, Toyota reconfigured the center console storage and upgraded digital displays. Basic trims feature a 7.0-inch instrument cluster and an 8.0-inch touchscreen, while higher configurations can be equipped with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.5-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard across the range, alongside a standard six-speaker audio setup or an available eight-speaker JBL sound system. The XLE trim introduces a Portobello interior color option, and a Cold-Weather package with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel is newly standard on XLE AWD and Hybrid XSE.
Under the hood, the non-hybrid Corolla Cross retains a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 169 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque paired with a CVT automatic. Front-wheel-drive versions accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds, while all-wheel-drive models require 9.3 seconds, though AWD benefits from a more sophisticated rear suspension setup. In testing, the gas powertrain feels strained under heavy load, making the smoother and quicker Corolla Cross Hybrid an attractive alternative.
In terms of cabin space, front occupants enjoy 42.9 inches of legroom, but rear legroom measures 32.0 inches, which remains tighter than rivals like the HR-V. Cargo volume stands at 24.0 cubic feet for FWD models and 21.5 cubic feet with AWD, expanding to 46.9 and 44.0 cubic feet with rear seats folded. All versions come equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking. Pricing for gas models spans from $26,930 for the base L 2WD up to $33,305 for the XLE AWD.
