Updated Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Debuts With 457-HP Hybrid Powertrain

Toyota has unveiled the updated body-on-frame Land Cruiser 300 SUV in Japan. Sales of the restyled model in the domestic market will begin on October 1, 2026. The vehicle's price ranges from 6,300,800 to 10,200,300 yen (approximately 3.4–5.5 million rubles at the current exchange rate).

The key technical change for the model is the introduction of a full hybrid powertrain. It combines a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine, an electric motor, and a 10-speed automatic transmission — the same setup used by the platform-sharing flagship Lexus LX 700h SUV. The system's total output reaches record figures for the Land Cruiser 300 family: 457 hp and 790 Nm of torque. According to the manufacturer, the hybrid SUV gained 170 kg in curb weight while retaining the ability to ford water obstacles up to 700 mm deep.

During the modernization, the engine lineup was streamlined: the purely gasoline Land Cruiser 300 with the 3.5 V6 engine has been retired. The only remaining traditional internal combustion engine is the 3.3-liter turbodiesel, developing 307 hp.

The hybrid version will enter the market in ZX and GR Sport trim levels. In addition, buyers will be offered a branded styling package from the Modellista studio, which includes wheel arch extensions, prominent running boards, sporty bumpers, and an additional spoiler on the tailgate.
