Manufactured from 2006 to 2012, the sixth-generation Nissan Sentra (codenamed B16) marked a substantial departure from the smaller B15 series by transitioning onto the Renault-Nissan Alliance C-platform. This architectural change brought larger exterior dimensions, a longer wheelbase, and a noticeably more spacious interior, allowing the four-door sedan to compete directly in the mainstream compact class while the new Versa filled the entry-level subcompact role. Under the hood, mainstream trims were powered by an all-new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine (MR20DE) paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or Nissan's Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT), which replaced conventional stepped automatics for improved fuel economy and smoother acceleration. Performance-oriented buyers were offered the Sentra SE-R and SE-R Spec V models, both equipped with a 2.5-liter QR25DE four-cylinder engine, sport-tuned suspension, larger disc brakes, and distinct exterior styling cues; the Spec V featured a high-output tuning paired exclusively with a six-speed manual and an available helical limited-slip differential. For the 2010 model year, the B16 received a mid-cycle refresh featuring a redesigned front grille, revised lower fascia, updated taillight graphics, and upgraded cabin electronics. The B16 Sentra was primarily sold across North America, Mexico, and select Latin American markets.
