The eighth-generation Hyundai Elantra enters production as a 2027 model year vehicle, replacing the outgoing seventh-generation CN7 platform. Known domestically in South Korea as the Avante, the compact front-wheel-drive sedan has grown in overall length, width, and footprint. This physical enlargement translates directly into improved interior packaging, providing noticeably more passenger room, improved rear legroom, and superior trunk utility compared to the vehicle it replaces.

Offered in a four-door sedan body style, the eighth generation adopts an evolved, sharper aesthetic treatment. The centerpiece of the updated engineering program is a revised hybrid powertrain combining an internal combustion 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric traction motor. The system generates a combined 155 horsepower, representing a 16-horsepower upgrade over the seventh-generation hybrid and providing more responsive acceleration under typical driving conditions.

Despite carrying greater curb weight and presenting a larger frontal profile, the redesigned sedan achieves roughly a 10 percent improvement in overall fuel efficiency. Under South Korea's official domestic certification cycle, the Elantra Hybrid riding on 17-inch wheels achieved a rating of 21.2 kilometers per liter (approximately 49.87 mpg combined), clearly eclipsing the outgoing model's 19.2 km/l baseline, while models fitted with 16-inch wheels similarly beat past benchmarks.
