Ford Escort II (Европа) gallery (1974–1980)
The Ford Escort Mk2 is the second generation of the European Escort, featuring squared-off styling and produced from 1974 to 1980.
The second generation of the European Ford Escort (Mk2) debuted in late 1974. Retaining the mechanical underpinnings of the Mk1, the Mk2 featured a completely redesigned, squarer body shell developed jointly by Ford of Britain and Ford of Germany. Body styles included two- and four-door saloons and a three-door estate.
Engine offerings comprised 1.1L, 1.3L, 1.6L, and 2.0L gasoline engines from the Kent and Pinto families. Performance variants such as the RS1800 and RS2000 earned extensive acclaim in motorsport, securing World Rally Championship driver and manufacturer titles. Production concluded in 1980 with the arrival of the front-wheel-drive Mk3.
