In 2014, Ford revived the historic Escort nameplate for an affordable compact sedan engineered specifically for the Chinese market by Changan-Ford. Built on the proven global Ford C1 platform (shared with the Focus Mk2), it filled the product slot between the Fiesta and Focus sedans. It offered generous cabin space and Ford's corporate chrome trapezoidal grille.

Power was initially supplied by a 1.5-liter Ti-VCT naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine (113 hp) mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The model received a facelift in 2018 and a dramatic interior overhaul in 2021 featuring full-width dual digital screens and LED headlights. Production ended in 2023.
