Ford Escort III (Северная Америка) gallery (1997–2003)

The third-generation North American Ford Escort is a streamlined sedan and ZX2 coupe produced from 1997 to 2003.

The third-generation North American Escort was launched for the 1997 model year. Built on a revised version of the previous Mazda-based platform, it adopted Ford's new edge / oval design language shared with the Taurus. The lineup consisted of a 4-door sedan, a wagon (through 1999), and the sporty Escort ZX2 two-door coupe introduced for 1998.

Sedan models were powered by a 2.0-liter SPI2000 engine (110 hp), whereas the ZX2 coupe featured a high-revving 2.0-liter Zetec DOHC engine generating 130 hp. Escort sedan production ceased in 2002 as the Ford Focus took over the segment, while the ZX2 coupe remained on sale through 2003.
