Cadillac Eldorado III gallery (1957–1958)

The third-generation Cadillac Eldorado (1957–1958) adopted a tubular X-frame architecture and debuted the hand-built ultra-luxury Eldorado Brougham sedan.

The third-generation Cadillac Eldorado (1957–1958 model years) transitioned to General Motors' innovative tubular X-frame chassis, enabling a lower body floorpan and sleeker overall vehicle height. The model range contained the Seville hardtop coupe, Biarritz convertible, and the legendary Eldorado Brougham four-door hardtop sedan. Hand-assembled in limited quantities, the Brougham featured a brushed stainless steel roof panel, rear-hinged suicide rear doors, quad headlights, and an opulent interior tailored with lambskin carpeting and memory seating, priced higher than a contemporary Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud sedan.

Under the hood sat a 365 cubic-inch (6.0-liter) V8 engine generating 325 horsepower for 1957 and 335 horsepower for 1958 when fitted with the Tri-Power intake setup comprising three two-barrel Rochester carburetors. Power was routed through a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. The Eldorado Brougham came factory-equipped with a self-leveling air suspension system, automatic climate control, power door locks, power seats, and a custom glovebox vanity kit including magnetic stainless steel drink tumblers and Arpège atomizer perfume. Standard and available equipment included power steering, power drum brakes, power window controls, power seat adjustment, and premium interior upholstery appointments.
