The twelfth-generation Cadillac Eldorado (1992–2002) returned to grand personal luxury dimensions and introduced the high-tech 32-valve Northstar V8.

The twelfth and final generation of the Cadillac Eldorado was built from 1992 through 2002 on GM's stretched front-wheel-drive E-body platform. Restoring the coupe's commanding 200-inch length, it showcased a pillarless glass canopy and aerodynamic body contours. A 1996 mid-cycle refresh updated front and rear fascias. The flagship Eldorado Touring Coupe (ETC) delivered a blend of traditional American luxury and sharp European-inspired road manners that catered to classic grand touring enthusiasts.

The centerpiece of this generation was GM's 4.6-liter 32-valve DOHC Northstar V8 engine, producing 270–275 horsepower in the base ESC and 295–300 horsepower in the high-output ETC. Power traveled through a heavy-duty 4T80-E 4-speed automatic transaxle. Advanced technologies included StabiliTrak stability control, Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension (CVRSS), ABS braking, and a Bose sound system with CD player.
