Cadillac Eldorado XI (E-body) photos

The eleventh-generation Cadillac Eldorado was manufactured from 1986 to 1991 on a further downsized front-wheel-drive E-body unibody platform. Initial buyer resistance to its reduced exterior dimensions led to a comprehensive 1988 restyle that lengthened front fender sheet metal and widened the grille profile to restore traditional Cadillac presence. In 1989, Cadillac introduced the performance-oriented Eldorado Touring Coupe (ETC) equipped with computer-controlled suspension damping, analog gauges, and supportive sport bucket seats.

Propulsion originally stemmed from a 4.1-liter HT4100 V8 (130 hp), upgrading to a 4.5-liter V8 (155–180 hp) for 1988, and concluding with a 200-horsepower 4.9-liter V8 for 1991. Transmissions were 4-speed automatic transaxles (4T60/4T60-E). Equipment highlights included Teves ABS braking, a digital Driver Information Center, automatic climate control, and an optional high-output Bose Gold Sound system.
