The eighth and final generation of the Cadillac De Ville was manufactured from 2000 through 2005 on GM's front-wheel-drive G-body chassis platform. The full-size sedan adopted crisp exterior styling with improved aerodynamic efficiency and a stiffer body structure. Trim designations were restructured into base, comfort-oriented DHS (DeVille High Luxury Sedan), and performance DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan). It pioneered automotive production technology by introducing Night Vision thermal imaging and LED taillights.

Power was derived from the 4.6-liter 32-valve DOHC Northstar V8, delivering 275 horsepower in Base/DHS trims and 300 horsepower in the DTS. Power traveled through a four-speed 4T80-E automatic transaxle. Highlights included MagneRide magnetic ride control, StabiliTrak stability management, massaging front seats, and a Bose audio system. For 2006, the model line was renamed the Cadillac DTS, concluding the historic De Ville nameplate.
