About this generation

The seventh-generation Subaru Outback, debuted in spring 2025, transitioning into a full-fledged crossover SUV.

The seventh-generation Subaru Outback debuted in spring 2025, marking an important transition in the model's design and market positioning. Built on an upgraded version of the Subaru Global Platform with increased torsional rigidity and revised suspension geometry, the Outback has transformed from a lifted all-wheel-drive station wagon into a full-fledged crossover SUV. The exterior styling introduces a distinctive front end with a redesigned radiator grille and a three-tier lighting arrangement consisting of upper LED daytime running lights, mid-level headlights, and low-mounted fog lamps.

The powertrain lineup offers two flat-four petrol engines: a 2.0-liter unit delivering 180 hp and a 2.5-liter engine producing 187 hp, paired with a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission and symmetrical all-wheel drive. Inside, the vehicle features an updated infotainment setup with dual displays driven by a faster processor. Crucially, compared to the sixth-generation model, Subaru has replaced the digital touchscreen climate controls with physical analog buttons and rotary dials for better ergonomics.
