Subaru's 510-HP In-House Electric Prototype and Next-Gen EV Platform

Subaru has revealed an electric test mule built inside an Outback body to showcase its newly developed in-house EV platform. Powered by a 150 kW front Aisin e-axle and a 230 kW rear motor producing about 510 hp combined, the all-wheel-drive prototype sprints from 0 to 62 mph in under four seconds. The dedicated chassis drops roughly 220 pounds compared to current architectures and pairs a 25 percent lighter cylindrical-cell battery pack with a single integrated control unit.
