The third-generation Hyundai Avante (XD platform) debuted in 2000 featuring crisp geometric body lines and upgraded cabin comfort. Body options included a traditional sedan and an Avante XD Sports hatchback.
Powertrains spanned 1.5-liter, 1.6-liter Alpha, and 2.0-liter Beta II CVVT petrol engines (143 hp), plus a 2.0-liter CRDi turbodiesel. A 2003 facelift revised grilles and taillights.
