BMW 2-series Gran Tourer (F46) gallery (2015–2022)
Stretched to fit up to seven passengers, the F46 Gran Tourer offered unmatched versatility as the only three-row premium compact MPV in its class.
Introduced in 2015, the F46 2 Series Gran Tourer expanded on the Active Tourer formula by lengthening the wheelbase and height to accommodate a third row of seats. It remains the only premium compact MPV to offer genuine seven-passenger seating capacity, targeting larger families who desired brand prestige alongside maximum practical utility. The modular interior featured sliding mid-row seats, fold-flat third-row chairs, and up to 1,905 liters of total cargo space.
Underneath, the Gran Tourer utilized the UKL2 front-drive platform powered by modular three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Available with either front-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive, it combined sensible family packaging with surprisingly tight road manners. Production concluded in 2022 without a direct successor, leaving the F46 as a unique entry in modern BMW history that served a highly specialized demographic of brand enthusiasts with growing families.
