About this generation

The seventh Jetta sits on the MQB platform, offering a coupe-like roofline, Digital Cockpit, and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Volkswagen Jetta VII (Typ BU) debuted at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. Constructed on the MQB architecture, its footprint expanded, producing a fastback-like coupe silhouette with a sloping rear C-pillar. The bold front design includes a prominent hexagonal grille framed by standard LED headlights. The model caters primarily to the Americas and China.

The cockpit features the customizable Digital Cockpit dashboard, 10-color ambient lighting, and ventilated leather seating. Power comes from a 1.4 TSI (147 hp), updated in 2021 to a 1.5 TSI (158 hp) linked to an 8-speed automatic. The performance Jetta GLI packs a 228-231 hp 2.0 TSI and multi-link rear suspension.

Volkswagen Begins Production of 2027 Atlas at Chattanooga Plant

Volkswagen Lengthens ID. Buzz Cargo Electric Van by 250 Millimeters

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has unveiled the long-wheelbase version of the ID. Buzz Cargo electric work van, adding 250 millimeters between the axles. The extended model features 4.4 cubic meters of cargo capacity, an 86-kWh battery pack, and a wider sliding door designed to fit a Euro pallet.

Volkswagen has unveiled the 2027 ID.3 GTI, replacing the outgoing GTX with the most powerful factory GTI to date. Retaining a 322-hp rear electric motor and a 79-kWh battery delivering up to 373 miles of WLTP range, the hot hatch also brings back physical cabin controls.

Volkswagen Unveiled Mission Efficiency Concept EV With Record 0.158 Drag Coefficient

Volkswagen has revealed the Mission Efficiency concept, an ultra-aerodynamic electric coupe built on the MEB+ platform as a spiritual successor to the XL1. During a test drive from Wolfsburg to Vienna, the prototype covered 1,278 kilometers on a 54.9-kWh battery with a single recharge, achieving an energy consumption of 6.89 kWh per 100 km.
