The sixth generation Toyota Carina sedan (T190 series) launched in August 1992. The exterior adopted smooth organic bio-design curves with excellent aerodynamic efficiency and an elevated window beltline. Exported and manufactured in the UK as the Carina E, the interior offered expanded legroom, high-grade acoustic insulation, standard driver airbags, and automatic climate control.

Technologically, the T190 showcased Toyota's Lean Burn gasoline engine technology, including the 1.6-liter 4A-FE (105 hp) and 1.8-liter 7A-FE (115 hp). The performance GT trim was powered by a 2.0-liter 3S-GE DOHC engine delivering 175 horsepower. Standard offerings included a 1.5-liter 5A-FE and a 2.0-liter 2C diesel. Transmissions were five-speed manuals or four-speed automatics, with available full-time 4WD. A 1994 facelift updated the front grille bar and rear reflector optics.
