Suzuki Swift III (RS/ZC11S) gallery (2004–2010)
The third-generation (first global) Suzuki Swift hatchback (RS/ZC11S) was produced from 2004 to 2010.
Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September 2004, the third-generation Suzuki Swift (RS platform, chassis code ZC11S series) represented Suzuki's first global strategic car. Featuring a radical design departure with blacked-out A- and B-pillars for a wrap-around visor effect, short overhangs, and a wide track, the chassis was tuned extensively on European roads for crisp dynamic handling. Production took place in Japan, Hungary, India, and China.
Engine options consisted of 1.3-liter (92 hp) and 1.5-liter (102 hp) M-series gasoline engines with variable valve timing, as well as a 1.3-liter DDiS turbodiesel engine. In 2005, Suzuki introduced the legendary Swift Sport (ZC31S), powered by a high-compression 1.6-liter M16A engine producing 125 hp, mated to a close-ratio manual gearbox, stiffer suspension tuning, and twin exhaust outlets. Minor exterior tweaks were applied in 2008 across the range.
