Launching in March 1979, the seventh-generation Suzuki Carry (ST30/ST40/ST90 series) introduced an enlarged cabin and lower loading height. In 1981, Suzuki introduced part-time 4WD transfer cases to the Carry lineup.
Engines included the 543 cc F5A four-stroke three-cylinder (31 hp) and the 797 cc F8A four-cylinder for exports.
