The sixth-generation GMC Suburban was produced from 1967 through 1972 on GM's Action Line C/K chassis architecture, bringing major advancements in passenger ergonomics and comfort. Most notably, it introduced an asymmetrical three-door body design with a single door on the driver's side and two doors on the curb side, greatly easing access to the second and third rows of seating. The model was offered in half-ton (C15/K15) and three-quarter-ton (C25/K25) capacities with two-wheel drive or part-time four-wheel drive. Engine choices encompassed 250 and 292 cubic inch inline-sixes along with small-block and big-block V8s ranging from 283, 307, 327, and 350 up to the massive 402 cubic inch (6.6-liter) big-block V8. Power was channeled through manual three- or four-speed gearboxes or robust Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmissions. Standard front disc brakes were introduced for 1971 alongside refreshed exterior grilles for the North American market.
