The fifth-generation Cadillac Series 62 was manufactured for 1957 and 1958 using GM's tubular X-frame chassis. This lowered the center of gravity and vehicle height. Styling featured forward-slanted rear fins and dual quad headlights (1958). Body choices included hardtop sedans, coupes, and convertibles. The Tubular X-frame architecture lowered the vehicle's center of gravity and enhanced high-speed cornering stability. Quad headlights introduced for 1958 gave the front fascia a broad and aggressive stance.

Powered by a 365 cubic-inch (6.0-liter) V8 delivering 300 to 310 horsepower, mated to a 4-speed Hydra-Matic automatic. Features included power steering, power brakes, climate control, and optional air suspension.
