The fourth-generation Cadillac Series 62 was produced from 1954 to 1956 on GM's C-body platform. Styling was lower, wider, and longer, featuring a prominent egg-crate front grille and bullet bumper guards. In 1956, the 4-door pillarless hardtop Sedan de Ville joined the line of sedans, coupes, and convertibles. The C-body exterior styling was dominated by a broad egg-crate front grille and integrated chrome bumper guards. The pillarless Sedan de Ville 4-door hardtop became an instant bestseller in the luxury segment.
The 331 cubic-inch V8 produced 230 hp in 1954, expanding to 365 cubic inches (6.0 liters) and 285–305 hp for 1956. Power passed through a 4-speed Hydra-Matic automatic. Standard equipment included power steering, power drum brakes, and power window lifts.
