The second-generation Cadillac Series 62 was produced during 1942 and from 1946 through 1947 on GM's C-body platform. It introduced extended front pontoon fenders stretching into the front door panels, paired with a massive chrome grille. Available in four-door sedan, two-door fastback coupe, and convertible body styles. Postwar models featured wrap-around bumpers and upgraded cabin trim. Full-size body proportions with lengthened front fenders gave the car a stately and commanding presence on the road. Postwar models received upgraded cabin upholstery featuring fine wool broadcloth and leather trim.

Powered by the 346 cubic-inch (5.7-liter) Monobloc V8 producing 150 horsepower, mated to a 4-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission or 3-speed manual. Standard equipment included hydraulic drum brakes, independent front suspension, and available hydraulic power windows.
