Introduced for the 2000 model year, the eighth and final generation of the Buick LeSabre was engineered on General Motors rigid front-wheel-drive G-body architecture, which it shared with the Buick Park Avenue and Pontiac Bonneville. This advanced unibody platform provided exceptional structural stiffness, resulting in superior crash safety, refined ride comfort, and reduced interior noise. Offered exclusively as a full-size four-door sedan in Custom and Limited trim levels, the model celebrated Buick centennial in 2003 with a special Celebration Edition featuring unique exterior trim and two-tone leather seating. The sole powertrain was the bulletproof 3.8-liter Buick 3800 Series II V6 engine rated at 205 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque, mated to a four-speed 4T65-E electronic automatic transmission. Standard and optional features included StabiliTrak electronic stability control, side-impact airbags, and Head-Up Display. Production concluded in June 2005, when the LeSabre was succeeded by the Buick Lucerne.
