The second-generation Buick LeSabre was produced from 1961 through 1964, marking a decisive shift away from flamboyant tailfins toward cleaner, sculptured body contours and crisper lines. Built on the rear-wheel-drive full-size GM B-body platform, the vehicle continued to offer multiple body configurations including a two-door hardtop coupe, two-door convertible, four-door sedan, four-door hardtop, and station wagon variants. Under the hood, early models utilized the 364 cubic-inch Nailhead V8, while later iterations introduced the robust 401 cubic-inch (6.6-liter) Wildcat V8 for the LeSabre 400 performance package and an innovative 300 cubic-inch (4.9-liter) V8 featuring aluminum cylinder heads in 1964. Transmission choices included standard three-speed and optional four-speed manual gearboxes, alongside the Turbine Drive automatic, which was replaced in 1964 by the modern Super Turbine 300 two-speed and Super Turbine 400 three-speed automatic transmissions. Each model year featured distinct front grille updates and revised taillight treatments, maintaining strong showroom appeal in North American dealerships.
