Volkswagen Gol II (G2) gallery (1994–2014)
The second-generation Volkswagen Gol (G2/G3/G4) featuring the rounded 'Bolinha' body was manufactured from 1994 to 2014.
The second-generation Volkswagen Gol subcompact hatchback (platform code G2 / AB9) launched in 1994. Featuring smooth aerodynamic styling that earned it the nickname 'Gol Bolinha' in Brazil, the G2 retained a longitudinal engine orientation while introducing five-door body options. Major mid-cycle updates were marketed as Gol G3 (1999) and Gol G4 (2005).
Engine offerings ranged from 1.0-liter entry units (including 16V and 1.0 Turbo variants) to 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0-liter AP engines. In 2003, the Gol G3 gained automotive fame as the world's first production vehicle equipped with flexible-fuel technology (Total Flex), running seamlessly on gasoline, ethanol, or any blend of both.
