Volkswagen ID. Tiguan electric crossover debuts with up to 600 km of range

Volkswagen has officially unveiled the all-electric ID. Tiguan crossover, designed to replace the ID.4 and ID.5 electric vehicles in the model lineup. The world premiere of the new model took place in October 2026. Pre-orders open on October 13, 2026, and the European sales launch is scheduled for early 2027. In the German market, the model's base price will be 42,695 euros (about 4.05 million rubles at the Central Bank exchange rate on October 10).

The car's exterior is designed in line with the new Pure Positive design philosophy. The model received a more understated and traditional look compared to its predecessors: massive bumpers, a horizontal LED strip between the headlights, and conventional exterior door handles instead of touch-sensitive buttons. The electric crossover's length is 4618 mm with a wheelbase of 2765 mm.

Inside the cabin, fundamental changes were made in favor of ergonomics: the manufacturer abandoned the controversial touch sliders and brought back physical buttons for controlling the climate system, multimedia, and power windows. A 10-inch instrument cluster screen is mounted in front of the driver, and a 15-inch touchscreen is located in the center. A 12-inch display with a privacy function is offered as an option for the front passenger. The digital instrument cluster received an original retro theme styled after the analog gauges of the Volkswagen Golf IV hatchback.

The crossover is built on the upgraded MEB+ platform and is available in three modifications. The base rear-wheel-drive version is equipped with a 190 hp electric motor and a 58 kWh battery pack. The mid-range modification also features rear-wheel drive, but develops 286 hp and is equipped with a 77 kWh battery. The top-spec all-wheel-drive 4Motion variant delivers 299 hp with the same 77 kWh battery pack. The new model's maximum range reaches 600 km on the WLTP cycle.

The volume of the main luggage compartment is 534 liters, and an additional 32-liter compartment is provided under the hood. Modifications with the 77 kWh traction battery are capable of towing a trailer weighing up to 2000 kg.
