Third generation Toyota Harrier crossover (XU60 series), evolving into a standalone domestic Japanese model built on the New MC platform.
The third generation Toyota Harrier (XU60 series) debuted in November 2013. With this generation, the Harrier separated from the global Lexus RX family to become a dedicated domestic Japanese crossover built on Toyota's New MC platform (shared with the RAV4 XA40). The exterior displayed a sophisticated aesthetic, featuring a clear acrylic upper grille showcasing the Harrier hawk emblem, sleek triple-element LED headlights, and flowing shoulder creases. The interior offered high-grade synthetic leather dashboard wrap, capacitive climate touch-controls, and an available JBL 11-speaker audio system.
The base powertrain was a 2.0-liter 3ZR-FAE Valvematic engine (151 hp) mated to a Super CVT-i transmission. The Harrier Hybrid variant utilized Toyota Hybrid System II with a 2.5-liter 2AR-FXE engine and electric motors producing 197 total system horsepower with E-Four AWD. A major 2017 facelift introduced a 2.0-liter 8AR-FTS twin-scroll turbocharged engine producing 231 horsepower paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, alongside standard Toyota Safety Sense P.
