Second generation Toyota Alphard luxury MPV (AH20 series) featuring Executive Power seats and spawning the sporty Vellfire twin model.
The second generation Toyota Alphard luxury MPV (AH20 series) launched in May 2008. This generation split the model range into two distinct design personalities: the formal Alphard and the aggressive, dual-headlamp Vellfire sibling. The AH20 body expanded in width and length, displaying a sculpted front apron and flush side window glazing. Interior luxury achieved new heights with available second-row Executive Power seats featuring power-actuated footrests, articulated headrests, and integrated heating.
Engine offerings included an upgraded 2.4-liter 2AZ-FE four-cylinder (170 hp) paired with a Super CVT-i transmission, and a 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6 producing 280 horsepower mated to a six-speed automatic. In 2011, Toyota reintroduced the Alphard Hybrid featuring a 2.4-liter 2AZ-FXE engine with THS II and E-Four all-wheel drive. Available in FWD and AWD, a late-2011 facelift updated the front grille bars, lower intake housing, and dashboard woodgrain finishes.
