Produced from 2012 to 2022, the sixth-generation Subaru Sambar (S321/S331 van, S201/S211 truck) was an OEM supply version of the Daihatsu Hijet Cargo/Truck under the Toyota group partnership. The generation shifted to front-engine RWD/4WD architecture powered by 660 cc 3-cylinder KF engines (46–53 hp naturally aspirated or 64 hp turbo). The MacPherson strut front suspension setup paired with the refined rear suspension layout struck an optimal balance between highway composure and smooth absorption of road surface imperfections. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike.
