Subaru Sambar IV (KS/KV) gallery (1990–1999)

Produced from 1990 to 1999, the fourth-generation Subaru Sambar (KS truck / KV van) adopted new 660 cc engine regulations. It introduced the 4-cylinder EN07 658 cc engine in naturally aspirated (40–46 hp) and supercharged (55–58 hp) trims, retaining its signature rear-engine chassis design. The engineering setup effectively combined the low center of gravity inherent to the horizontally-opposed engine layout with a rigid chassis frame, delivering precise handling and composure across dry pavement and slippery surfaces alike. Engine bay packaging ensured optimal front-to-rear axle weight distribution alongside efficient thermal cooling under sustained driving loads.

In 1993, Subaru introduced the retro-styled Dias Classic featuring round headlamps and chrome grille accents. A 1995 facelift refreshed dashboard instruments and bumper trim. Transmissions included 5-speed manuals, 3-speed automatics, and ECVT with AWD until 1999. Designers placed a strong emphasis on cabin ergonomics, occupant visibility, and long-distance driving comfort. Robust mechanical reliability across the drivetrain and suspension components helped establish this generation as a benchmark choice within its competitive market segment worldwide.
