About this generation

The third generation of the Kia Sportage crossover featuring dynamic Peter Schreyer design, premium options, and a new platform. The model combines proven engineering reliability, refined.

The third-generation Kia Sportage (SL) debuted in 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show. Styled entirely under Peter Schreyer, its sleek appearance earned a Red Dot Design Award. Built on the Hyundai-Kia Y6 platform shared with the Hyundai ix35, it adopted a lower, wider stance with a high beltline, LED accents, and a bold Tiger Nose grille. The overall body length expanded to 4,440 mm, enhancing stability and highway cruising refinement. This generation of the Sportage (SL) was produced from 2010 to 2015 and offered in внедорожник body styles. Built on an engineered platform, it features strong structural rigidity, refined aerodynamics, and advanced occupant safety engineering.

Powertrains included 1.6-liter GDI (135 hp), 2.0-liter Theta II petrol engines (150-166 hp), a 260-hp 2.0L T-GDI unit for North America, and 1.7-liter and 2.0-liter CRDi turbo-diesels producing up to 184 hp. A 2014 facelift updated the vehicle with LED tail lamps, a revised Supervision cluster instrument display, an upgraded Infinity sound system, and enhanced cabin noise insulation. The powertrain lineup features modern engines optimized for thermal efficiency, balancing responsive acceleration with economical fuel consumption. Power is delivered through reliable manual or automatic transmissions.
