About this generation

The second generation of the Kia Sportage crossover featuring unibody construction, shared Hyundai Tucson platform, and automatic AWD. The model combines proven engineering reliability, refined.

The second-generation Kia Sportage (KM) debuted in 2004, radically transforming the model concept. It transitioned from a body-on-frame design to a unibody construction with all-wheel independent suspension, prioritizing highway comfort and refined handling. Sharing a platform with the first-generation Hyundai Tucson, its overall length grew to 4,350 mm, providing a far more spacious cabin. The 5-door SUV body offered flexible rear seating configurations and improved cargo access. This generation of the Sportage (KM) was produced from 2004 to 2010 and offered in внедорожник body styles. Built on an engineered platform, it features strong structural rigidity, refined aerodynamics, and advanced occupant safety engineering.

Engine options comprised a 2.0-liter Beta II petrol engine (142 hp), a 2.7-liter Delta V6 petrol engine (175 hp), and a 2.0-liter CRDi turbo-diesel with output ranging from 112 to 150 hp. Drivetrain choices included a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, with front-wheel drive or a Torque-on-Demand automatic all-wheel drive system. A 2008 facelift brought updated headlights, a new front grille, restyled bumpers, and upgraded interior materials. The powertrain lineup features modern engines optimized for thermal efficiency, balancing responsive acceleration with economical fuel consumption. Power is delivered through reliable manual or automatic transmissions.
