The first-generation Hyundai Grandeur (L) flagship sedan was manufactured from 1986 to 1992, co-developed with Mitsubishi.

The I (L) generation of the Hyundai Grandeur was manufactured between 1986 and 1992. The first-generation Hyundai Grandeur (L chassis) debuted in July 1986.

Co-developed with Mitsubishi Motors (as the Debonair II) to serve as the official VIP car for the 1988 Seoul Olympics, it introduced executive luxury features and Mitsubishi 2.0L, 2.4L, and 3.0L V6 engines. Throughout its production run, the I (L) established a strong reputation for powertrain efficiency, passenger comfort, and structural reliability.
