The second-generation Honda Accord was produced from 1981 to 1985 and was the first Japanese passenger car manufactured in the United States.

The second-generation Honda Accord (SY/SZ) debuted in late 1981, carrying over basic mechanical concepts while introducing a restyled body with square edges and optimized aerodynamics. Available as a four-door sedan and three-door hatchback, the Accord achieved a major milestone in 1982 when assembly began at Honda's new plant in Marysville, Ohio, making it the first Japanese vehicle produced on American soil.

Under the hood, the Accord featured a 1.8-liter EK1 CVCC engine generating 75 to 86 horsepower, later supplemented by 1.8-liter ES engines with PGM-FI electronic fuel injection. Premium features introduced during this generation included the Electro-Gyrocator inertial navigation system, auto-leveling air suspension, and a four-speed automatic transmission with torque converter lockup.
