GMC Yukon II (GMT800) photos

The second-generation GMC Yukon arrived for the 2000 model year based on the modern GMT800 architecture. It abandoned the classic two-door bodystyle, focusing entirely on five-door utility while introducing the extended-wheelbase Yukon XL to replace the standalone GMC Suburban nameplate. The SUV was powered by an all-new generation of GM's small-block V8 engines: the 4.8-liter Vortec (275–285 hp) and the 5.3-liter Vortec (285–295 hp). The upscale Yukon Denali and heavy-duty Yukon XL 2500 models received the larger 6.0-liter Vortec V8 generating up to 335 hp, with the rare 8.1-liter Vortec 8100 available on heavy-duty trims. Power was routed via 4-speed automatic transmissions (4L60-E/4L65-E/4L85-E). The platform brought independent front torsion-bar suspension and a five-link coil-sprung solid rear axle, dramatically improving ride comfort. A mid-cycle update in 2003 brought a redesigned interior and advanced StabiliTrak stability control.
