The sixth-generation Falcon comprised AU, BA, and BF series produced from 1998 to 2008. The 1998 AU series introduced Ford's controversial New Edge styling. The heavily revised 2002 BA series won the Wheels Car of the Year award, returning to clean lines while debuting Control Blade independent rear suspension.
This era launched the acclaimed 4.0-liter Barra DOHC inline-six engine (naturally aspirated and turbo versions up to 328 hp) alongside the 5.4-liter 32V Boss V8. The 2005 BF update introduced smooth ZF 6-speed automatic transmissions. Body offerings were sedan, wagon, and Falcon Ute.
