The third-generation Ford Falcon (XA-XC) was the first fully Australian-designed Falcon, featuring coke-bottle styling (1972–1979).

The third-generation Falcon (XA, XB, XC series) marked the first Falcon designed entirely in Australia without reliance on North American sheet metal. It introduced bold 'coke-bottle' rear styling and flared fenders. Available body styles included four-door sedan, station wagon, two-door hardtop coupe, and utility pickup.

Engine offerings included 200ci/250ci inline-sixes and 302ci/351ci Cleveland V8s. A modified 1973 XB GT Coupe became immortalized as Max Rockatansky's 'Pursuit Special' interceptor in the iconic movie Mad Max. The final XC series introduced four-wheel disc brakes and anti-pollution emissions compliance.
