Ford Falcon II (XR/XT/XW/XY) gallery (1966–1972)

The second-generation Ford Falcon (XR-XY series) introduced V8 power and the legendary GT muscle saloon from 1966 to 1972.

The second-generation Australian Falcon spanned the XR, XT, XW, and XY series produced between 1966 and 1972. The XR series was marketed as the 'Mustang with four doors', introducing American V8 power to Australian passenger cars for the first time. Offered body styles were a sedan, wagon, and utility pickup.

This era birthed Australian muscle car icons, culminating in the Falcon GT and GT-HO Phase III equipped with the 351 Cleveland V8 engine (300+ hp). The Phase III held the record as the world's fastest production sedan of its time and achieved legendary victories at the Bathurst 500 endurance race.
