Unveiled in mid-2017, the fourth-generation Audi A8 (D5) served as a flagship showcase for autonomous driving tech and electrification. Styled by Marc Lichte, the D5 features a broad Singleframe grille, HD Matrix LED headlights with laser spot high-beams, and OLED rear light bars. Its space frame combines aluminum, steel, magnesium, and carbon-fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP).
The interior features a touch-based MMI touch response layout with dual glass screens. Every engine option (V6, V8, and PHEV) incorporates 48V mild-hybrid technology. Standard dynamic all-wheel steering and optional predictive active suspension adjust body pitch and roll in real-time, delivering unparalleled ride smoothness.
