The fifth-generation Audi A4 (B9) featured lightweight MLB Evo architecture, benchmark aerodynamics, and the Audi virtual cockpit.
Revealed in late 2015, the fifth-generation Audi A4 (B9) was constructed upon the lightweight MLB Evo platform. Strategic usage of hot-formed high-strength steel and aluminum shaved up to 120 kg from the total curb weight while increasing structural rigidity and overall dimensions. The sedan variant achieved an extraordinary drag coefficient of Cd 0.23, setting a world record for serial production sedans in its segment.
The interior showcased the 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit customizable digital display alongside high-resolution MMI infotainment. Powertrains ranged from efficient 1.4, 2.0 TFSI, and 3.0 TFSI petrol engines to clean TDI diesels, complemented by 12V/48V mild-hybrid systems. The introduction of quattro with ultra technology enabled predictive disengagement of rear-wheel drive to save fuel during cruising. The model fully reflected the premium status of the automaker and its commitment to technological leadership in its class.
