The second-generation Audi A4 (B6) brought executive design cues inspired by the A8, Multitronic CVT technology, and a elegant Cabriolet.
Debuting in late 2000, the second-generation Audi A4 (B6) was styled under Peter Schreyer's direction, adopting clean surfaces and stately proportions akin to the flaghip A8. The body structure benefited from increased torsional rigidity and full steel galvanization. In 2002, the lineup expanded beyond the traditional sedan and Avant wagon with the introduction of a stylish four-seat A4 Cabriolet featuring an automated soft top.
Technologically, the B6 introduced Audi's Multitronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) for front-wheel-drive models. The engine range encompassed 1.6, 2.0, 1.8T, 2.0 FSI direct-injection units, and a 3.0-liter V6, complemented by robust 1.9 TDI and 2.5 V6 TDI diesels. All-aluminum front and rear suspension components provided a smooth ride balanced with sharp dynamic handling characteristics. The model fully reflected the premium status of the automaker and its commitment to technological leadership in its class.
