The first-generation Volkswagen Saveiro coupe utility pickup (platform code G1 / BX) debuted in 1982 as the commercial truck variant of the Gol family. Designed for agricultural and urban transport, it featured a robust open bed rated for payloads up to 570 kg.
Initial models utilized a 1.6-liter air-cooled engine before upgrading to water-cooled 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter AP gasoline/ethanol engines, as well as a 1.6 D diesel option, paired with manual transmissions.
